Consistry vs TradeLog: two prop-first journals, different bets

TradeLog (the prop journal at tradelog.cot-reports.com) is a serious tool and the closest thing to a direct competitor we have. It ships editable presets for 11 prop firms, monitors daily and max drawdown in real time, and auto-syncs from MetaTrader, cTrader, NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradeLocker and Rithmic — plus three crypto exchanges. Its Auto Risk-Lock, which trims positions that exceed planned risk, is something most journals do not attempt.

Consistry bets on a different axis. Where TradeLog gives you editable presets to maintain, we maintain the rules for you: a catalog of 20 firms re-verified against those firms' own pages every week, wired into account setup, the pre-trade check and news-window enforcement. We also ship an AI coach and native mobile apps, neither of which TradeLog offers today.

TL;DR: TradeLog wins on raw platform coverage (Rithmic and crypto exchanges we do not support) and on price at the low end. Consistry wins on verified rule maintenance, AI, mobile apps, news-restriction enforcement and a free tier.

Where TradeLog is genuinely strong

This is the closest competitor we have, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.

  • Platform coverage we don't match.

Rithmic via R|Protocol, plus Binance, Bybit and OKX for crypto. If you trade a Rithmic-routed futures account or journal crypto alongside prop, TradeLog covers ground we currently don't.

  • Auto Risk-Lock.

Automatically trimming a position that exceeds your planned risk is an execution-layer feature, not a journaling one. Very few journals attempt it.

  • A genuinely cheap manual tier.

$9/month for 10 accounts with manual and CSV entry is well priced if you do not need automatic syncing.

  • Firm-specific drawdown models.

Their per-firm pages name the actual mechanics — Apex's trailing drawdown, Lucid's dynamic daily-loss model — rather than treating every firm as a generic percentage.

If Rithmic sync or crypto exchanges are your requirement, TradeLog is the better fit today and we would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong tool.

Where Consistry goes further

01

The rules are maintained for you, with a date on them

20 firms and 26 programs, each read off the firm's own pages and re-checked every week by an automated routine. Every entry carries a verification date, and anything older than 90 days stops being recommended instead of quietly going stale. TradeLog's presets are editable, which also means keeping them current is your job.

02

Rules that act, not just report

Picking your firm fills the account's real limits in automatically, and the pre-trade check returns GREEN, YELLOW or RED against those limits plus your own statistics before you enter. TradeLog monitors and alerts after the fact.

03

News windows are enforced by rule

Each firm's news policy — the window in minutes, what it forbids, the penalty — is part of the same verified catalog. Two minutes before NFP on an FTMO funded account, the check goes red and quotes the rule. TradeLog ships an economic calendar, which tells you an event exists but not whether your firm allows the trade.

04

An AI coach that reads your own record

Daily plans and pre-trade verdicts are built from your measured history: per-instrument and per-session edge, how your results decay across the trading day, what happens after a loss, whether size creeps up after red trades. TradeLog advertises no AI features at all.

05

Actually on your phone

Native iOS and Android apps with push alerts and a voice coach. TradeLog lists mobile apps as coming soon.

06

Free to start, and free to stay

Unlimited trades and unlimited prop accounts without a card. Everything else, auto-sync and AI included, is one $15/month plan.

Who should pick which

Pick TradeLog if: you need Rithmic or crypto-exchange syncing, you want Auto Risk-Lock trimming your positions, or a $9/month manual journal is exactly the scope you want.

Pick Consistry if: you want firm rules that are verified and updated for you rather than maintained by hand, enforced before the trade instead of reported after it, with an AI coach built on your own numbers and apps on your phone. Free to start.

FAQ

The prop-firm journal at tradelog.cot-reports.com. Two unrelated products share the name: tradeloghq.com is a different journal, and tradelogsoftware.com is US tax-accounting software. This page is about the prop journal only.
